Architect@Work London: Our favourites, part 6 – emco

By EM on February 6, 2015 in Exhibitions

We were really impressed by emco’s idea to provide barrier free access to buildings by using entrance mat panels in different heights that act as a guiding system for visually impaired and blind people.
The panels can be inserted into any carpet flooring in a building providing orientation and drawing attention to obstacles and possible dangers. Just as on streets and pavements, the wayfinding system runs along the walking direction, enabling blind and visually impaired people to find doors, stairs and lifts.
