Interface at CDQ 2015: Designing with Nature

By Angelika Zopf on September 21, 2015 in Architecture, CDQ

Exploring the field of biomimicry, Interface hosts a striking 3D printed installation by Exploration Architecture during this year’s London Design Festival.
The exhibition showcases a selection of projects and prototypes from the studio’s cutting-edge research on sustainable, nature-inspired design. Study models, sketches and short films introducing Exploration’s projects will be presented alongside a myriad of natural specimens that inspired the designs. This inspiring exhibition demonstrates that nature has had 3.8 billion years to evolve and perfect resource efficient design, and that we, as humans, can use this knowledge to build and design better and more efficient projects using less globally limited resources.

Going along with the topic of sustainability, David Oakey, Designer and Owner of David Oakey Design, and Michael Pawlyn, leading practitioner of Biomimicry and architect, will be hosting talks on the evening of 22 September, from 6.30pm.
David will be focusing on designing with biophilia, and Michael will be discussing the benefits of learning and living with nature, and the impact biomimicry can have on the design industry.
