Our huge congratulations go to Iris Dunbar, founder of The Interior Design School, who has been awarded the IFI Fellowship Medal. The IFI (International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers) Fellowship recognises and acknowledges exemplary international achievement within the Interior Architecture/Design profession – and honours those who lead, connect, inspire, enrich and influence the Interiors profession in significant and outstanding ways.
Having studied Interiors within the School of Architecture at Dundee University, Iris began her career as an Interior Designer with Building Design Partnership, an interdisciplinary practice of architects, designers, engineers and urbanists before setting up her own company combining graphic design, interior and exhibition design. Iris set up The Interior Design School with the view that Interior Design should be taught within a professional framework. Her ambition has always been to inspire clients and designers from all walks of life to create interiors that lift the spirits and to make the industry a rich and relevant sector.
The Interior Design School, based in London’s Queens Park, runs an evolving programme of studio-based training, with a number of different courses that seek to accommodate individual requirements and circumstances. Alumni include Nicola Osborn, Design Director, MoreySmith; Nicky Dobree, Nicky Dobree Interior Design, Andrea Pfeiffer and Ralph Born, BornPfeiffer; Lucy Clark, Studio Clark & Co, and many other distinguished names in retail, residential and commercial design.
