Toilets, loos, bathrooms, restrooms…whatever you call them, a bathroom is a bathroom…isn’t it? Last week we went on location to shoot two very different, but extra special, bathrooms for TOTO.
First stop was the Rosewood London hotel, one of London’s newest luxury hotels, a stone’s throw from Covent Garden. The grand entrance arch leads onto an elegant and discreet courtyard, giving the illusion that you are somewhere in Milan or Paris, rather than High Holborn. The lavish interior of the hotel, including the magnificent original marble staircase, is quite breathtaking. We were shooting in the sumptuous Manor House Suite, which boasts two TOTO Neorest Washlets, however photographer Gareth Gardner and our small team spent quite some time goggling at the huge circular marble bath, walk-in shower, matched hexagonal marble tiled floor, and state-of-the-art mirror TVs and more towels than you could shake a stick at. The bathrooms are the perfect combination of high tech and relaxation, and ooze luxury. Oh, and if you take not just the 185 sq m suite but also the five adjoining rooms, the whole lot turns into the Grand Manor House Wing, with a private entrance on High Holborn, and its own postcode!
Tearing ourselves away from the air-conditioned luxury (and the delicious tea and biscuits) of the Rosewood, we headed to our next shoot at the home of the legendary Sir Stirling Moss. The charismatic retired F1 driver was the first British driver to win an F1 race on British soil, and is known for having high tech furniture and accessories in his Mayfair mews house (he famously has a dining table that can be laid in the kitchen, and then descends into the dining room on the floor below). Sir Stirling’s love of innovation would not be complete with out a high tech bathroom, which includes a TOTO Washlet as well as TOTO bath, taps and shower controls.
